Synopsis

Ziba is getting ready for her daughter's wedding when she happens to be captured by a dreaded gang.

She tries to break free from this bondage but she does not have much time, because her daughter is also going there unaware of everything.

Ban

Despite receiving positive reviews from those who had seen the film in private screenings, the film was not granted a screening permit by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage for screening at the 2020 Fajr Film Festival. This issue led to much criticism from the public and art circles.

On February 25, 2023, after four years of ban and three times being prevented from attending the Fajr Film Festival, a screening permit for The Killer and the Savage was issued only for screening abroad. The statement from the Cinema Organization states: Although the film's theme has an inflammatory and violent atmosphere and will attract a certain audience, the horror and violence prevailing in the film were not the reason for the work not being screened, and only the images of the female actress with shaved hair deprived the film of this possibility. Although such an incident has occurred in some films in the past, the screening of this film had been prevented until now due to various sensitivities. However, the Cinema Screening Permit Council only agreed to the international screening of The Killer and the Savage, and from now on, the producer of the film will be allowed to screen this film abroad.
