Synopsis

Davood, Hossein, and Reza, are three schoolmates who have grown up together.

Hossein has become an addict, Davood works as the chauffeur to a military general entangled in a political prisoner's ongoing trial, and Reza is part of a paramilitary group with the intention of punishing those who have imprisoned his comrades.

The film had a revolutionary theme. It was banned after less than a month of release.

The film is best known for its song, "Yare Dabestani," which later became the official anthem of the student movement and a symbol of its struggle against tyranny and oppression for more than half a century. The theme of this stirring song is a call to fight against tyranny and dictatorship.

The Film Monthly wrote about the film in its second issue:

"From Scream to Terror is another film made after the 1979 revolution about SAVAK (the secret police) and SAVAKIs and military operations against the former regime. In addition to failing to bring together its complex and disjointed scenario, the film is plagued by a purely adventurous and eventful view of the military operations against the Shah's regime, and it falters when it comes to sociological analysis."


Film Music

Fereydoon Foroughi performs the song "Yare Dabestani" for the film directed by Mansoor Tehrani, which is used in the film's credits. While no official ban on Foroughi's work had yet been announced, Tehrani was informed that he had to remove Foroughi's name from the credits of his film. As a result, Jamshid Jam took over the task of singing the song. And the song was generally broadcast in Jamshid Jam's voice. After it was repeatedly sung during the Green Movement protests in Iran, it was no longer broadcast on Iranian Radio and Television and was placed on the list of banned songs.This music score is a symbol of the political song of protest movements.
