Esmail Davarfar(March 1, 1933 - May 4, 2008)
Esmail Davarfar (March 1, 1933 – May 4, 2008) was an Iranian actor.
He graduated from the faculty of Dramatic Arts at Tehran University, which has introduced many actors such as Nosrat Karimi, Mostafa Eskoui, Ezzatolah Entezami, Ali Nasirian and many others to the world of drama and acting.
Later he traveled to the United States to pursue his professional career where he received a diploma from the California Theater and Elizabeth Holloway School.
Davarfar remained one of Iran's leading actors throughout his lengthy career. His list of credits among others includes playing "Dost Ali Khan" in My Uncle Napoleon.
Esmail Davarfar started his theatrical activities in 1956. At the height of the national theater programs, he had an active and bold presence in the plays that were performed in Sangalaj Theatre Hall.
Davarfar entered the cinema in 1970 with Mr. Simpleton (Dariush Mehrjui) and acted in films such as Sadegh Korde (Nasser Taghvai) and Saraydar (Khosrow Haritash).
He is remembered for playing "Dost Ali Khan" in the memorable tv series "My Uncle Napoleon" by Nasser Taghvai, based on Iraj Pezeshkzad' famous novel, as well as more recent series such as "My school was late again" and "Doosti Agency".
He was a co-star with veteran actors such as Ali Nasirian, Ezzatolah Entezami, Jamshid Mashayekhi, Jafar Vali and Mohammad Ali Keshavarz, and among his theater performances are the Inspector, A View from the Bridge, Siah Zangi Daireh Zangi, Mard Farangi, Death in Autumn and Enemies.
Esmail Davarfar suffered from cancer for some time and was 75 years old when he died.
