Alireza Khamseh (January 29, 1953, Tehran, Iran)
Alireza Khamsenia (born on January 29, 1953) is an Iranian actor, screenwriter, director and presenter.
He started his acting career with Jooje Fokoli (Baby Dandy) by Reza Safai. In 1981 he went on stage again with Death of Yazdgerd by Bahram Beizai.
In 2009 he won the Crystal Simorgh Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Twenty (Bist) from the 27th Fajr Film Festival.
He appeared in five seasons of the TV series Capital (2010-2018) playing Baba Panjali.
In 1989, Khamseh starred in Kianoush Ayari's film The Grand Day (Rooz-e Bashokooh) alongside Ali Nassirian, Iraj Tahmasb and Gohar Khairandish. Although this movie was well received by the audience, Khamseh's real breakthrough happened with Hoshyar o Bidar TV series in 1984.
In the same year he appeared in "The Harbour" by Kiumars Pourahmad, in a quite different role, in which he plays Hamzeh, who works in an inn in Bandar Abbas city and becomes a shelter for two runaway teenagers.
In 1991, he acted alongside Jamshid Esmailkhani in Apartment No. 13, directed by Yadollah Samadi, in which Khamseh played the owner of an apartment in Tehran, who came to Iran's capital city from Kerman to sell it. It brings him the best actor award at Pyongyang International Film Festival in North Korea in 1992 for smooth acting and his good Kermani accent. The film was nominated for 7 Simorgh awards in the Iranian Fajr Film festival and it won 2.
In 1993, Abolhassan Davoodi made "Man zamin ra doost daram" (I love the earth), in which Khamseh played the role of a spaceman with a different make-up. Khamseh's good performance and the film's use of special effects received good feedback and was noticed by the audience.
In the same year, he played the lead role in Hassan Hedayat's "The Devil's Eye" that was in an incident genre and different from Khamseh's other works. His tense and active performance made him a candidate for the best male actor at the 12th Fajr Film Festival, where the film was nominated to receive 5 Simorghs and won 3.
