Akbar Zanjanpour (born January 21, 1945) is an Iranian film and television actor, director, theater actor, and announcer.
Akbar Zanjanpour is known for Velayate Eshgh / Reign of Love (2000), Pole Khaab / Bridge of Sleep (2016), Report on a Murder / Gozaresh yek ghatl (1987) and The Chess Game of the Wind / Shatranj-e Baad (1976).
Zanjanpour was born on Bab Homayoun Street in Tehran. At the age of 7, he moved to the Shemiran area with his family. After completing high school, he entered the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran to study theater, graduating in 1969.
In the following years, he appeared in many theaters and television and radio plays, and in addition to acting, he was also involved in theater directing and cinema. He nonetheless began teaching at the university in 1986, and was a member of the National Theater Committee of UNESCO in 1989-1990.
Akbar Zanjanpour received a first degree in art, equivalent to a doctorate, from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in 1988.
He made his stage debut in ‘Choob Zire Baghal / Crutch’, a play directed by Bahman Forsi. Later, he appeared for the first time in ‘Bita’ (1972), a film by Hajir Dariush.
Voice acting
Akbar Zanjanpour has also tried his hand at the art of dubbing. His most famous performance as a dubbing artist was voice acting "Jabbar Singh" in Shoale (a famous 1975 Indian film). He has nonetheless been a voice actor among others lending their voice to the characters in the animated film "The Last Story" directed by Ashkan Rahgozar.
