Mehri Mehrnia (October 31st, 1917- 18 February 2009 )
Mehri Mehrnia was born in 1917 in Alasht, Mazandaran Province, Iran.
She was an actress, known for Tanoure-ye Deev (1986), Gol-e sorkh (1990) and Dokhtare velgard (1964).
She began her artistic career when she was 33 and entered the world of cinema with the film “Mommy’s Boy.” She performed in over 40 movies during her 50 years career.
“Brick and Mirror,” “Tranquility in the Presence of Others (1973),” “Inner Monster,” “The Bus,” “Trousseau for Robab” are among the movies in which she performed.
Mehrnia was honored in a ceremony held at Tehran Theater Complex in November 2006 incidentally marking her 90th birthday.
She has won the Crystal Simorgh of Best Second Role Actress for “Dust Devil (Tanoreh Deev)” by Kianoosh Ayari from Fajr Film Festival.
Her other appearances are “The Blue-Veiled” by Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, “Marriage, Iranian Style” by Hasan Fathi and “Mirza Kuchak Khan” by Behrouz Afkhami.
She had been living in a nursing home for the past few years. She died on February 20, 2009 in Tehran, Iran.
According to the Association of Iranian Actors (AIA), her funeral procession took place at the House of Cinema on a Sunday and she was buried in the Artists Section of Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery.
