Ali Ahmadzadeh (born in 1986) is an Iranian film director.
After graduation from the Neinava Music University, Ali Ahmadzadeh has also graduated in film direction from the Young Cinema Society.
He began his directorial debut with his short film Achmaz (2007), he also directed three other short films Advantage (2009), Collage (2011) and Zanjan (2012).
Kami's Party / Mehmouniye Kami (2013) is his first feature film. Ahmadzadeh's thriller Atomic Heart / Madare Ghalb Atomi (2015) was screened in the Forum section of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival.
Ali Ahmadzadeh made his first film Kami's Party in 2013, that after facing the problem of obtaining a license, he screened it in various festivals without permission, and finally, in a controversial action, in response to the seizure of "Kami's Party" he published a quality version of his movie on a video streaming website. His second film Atomic Heart also faced similar problems, but it was finally released in 2017 after some changes were made.
"My films are mostly about the new generation and their life here in Iran, a life that is by its nature in constant conflict with the political power and the system. The regime doesn't want our real pictures to be shown and seen because they want to present the image of a traditional religious islamic state to the outside world. In my new film, I depict everything in the most naked and radical way. I wanted to show that the city is like a big mental institution so sometimes we had to hide the camera. This suspense during production gave the cast and crew a strong feeling of being rebel fighters and I got the most out of the adrenaline in our blood." --Ali Ahmadzadeh
