"My Favorite Cake" directors Accused of "Spreading Corruption" in a new case
Radio Farda October 27, 2024
Radio Farda has been informed that "My Favorite Cake" banned film directors have been charged in a new case, in addition to "propaganda against the regime".
They have also been accused, by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, of two new charges, including "spreading corruption through the production of vulgar films and spreading corruption through distribution and release of vulgar films".
At the same time, Behtash Sanaeeha announced on Sunday, October 27, that the ban on him and his wife Maryam Moghaddam, the film co-director, is still in place.
In early September, it was announced that the ban on leaving the country was lifted, but Moghaddam announced on September 11 that her and Behtash Sanaeeha's passports were confiscated again at the airport before leaving the country.
Maryam Moghaddam and Behtash Sanaeeha had announced on October 3rd that their travel ban would be lifted.
She wrote on her Instagram page that she and her husband, Behtash Sanaeeha, were prevented from leaving the country despite preparing tickets and paying their travel expenses.
Their passports were confiscated at the airport on October 3rd, 2022, while they were planning to travel to France to complete the production of "My Favorite Cake".

After being banned from leaving, they were accused of "propaganda against the regime and action against national security".
This film was made without observing the censorship rules of the Islamic Republic, including the mandatory hijab for female actors ; the production and screening of "My Favorite Cake" had already faced objections from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. This is despite the fact that two years after the September 2022 protests (against the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran), dozens of short and long films have been made in Iran underground and outside of the official rules and have been shown in international film festivals.
