Mehdi Rahmani (February 1st. 1979, Isfahan, Iran)
Mehdi Rahmani (born 1 February 1979, Isfahan, Iran) is an Iranian film director, writer and producer known for Boarding Pass (2017) and his 2012 feature film Snow (Barf).
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Iranian Cinema and Broadcasting university in Tehran and has directed 18 short films and documentaries.
Rahmani tries in his films to discover Iranian society’s problems and insists on Human Rights in his fictions and documentaries.
He has participated in many film festivals around the world and won prizes such as Best Children Feature Film in Asia Pacific Awards, Best Film in Avanca Film Festival, Jury prize in IBBAF Film Festival, Best documentary in Noor Film Festival and many more.
Rahmani is a member of Asia Pacific Academy Awards, Directors Guild of Iranian Cinema (DGIR), The Film Producers Guild of Iran, Iranian Documentary Filmmakers' Society"(IRDFA), European Documentary Filmmakers' Society (EDN), Iranian Photographer's Society, Jury member for Isfahan Children and Young People International Film Festival.
He was the head of jury in 10th Tehran International Short Film Festival and has guided a workshop about filmmaking in Portugal.
Rahmani was the winner of Crystal Simorgh for the best trailer in Fajr Film Festival. “Other” was also nominated for the Best film Crystal Simorgh.
