Matías Piñeiro (May 11, 1982, Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Matías Piñeiro (Buenos Aires, May 11, 1982) is an Argentine filmmaker, screenwriter and performer known for his works on You Burn Me, Isabella, Viola, The Princess of France and Hermia & Helena.
Piñeiro is noted as one of the most prolific filmmakers of his generation and an exponent of new Argentine cinema.
Piñeiro was born in Buenos Aires, of Galician descent, his mother was born in Chantada, Lugo. He studied at the Universidad del Cine, where he taught cinematography and film history.
“I do. I think that rhythm is important in cinema, and that sound helps to give a film rhythm.”
In 2011 he moved to the United States to complete the Radcliffe Fellowship at Harvard University.
He currently lives in New York on a new scholarship at New York University.
