Synopsis
Buddha Collapsed Out of Shame (Buda as sharm foru rikht) is a 2007 film by Hana Makhmalbaf. It is the story of a 5 year old Afghan girl who wants to go to school against all odds.
Bakhtay (Nikbakht Noruz), a little girl living in the caves under the remains of the Buddha statues of Bamyan (which were destroyed by the
Taliban in 2001), becomes obsessed with the idea of going to school. The process to reach her dream proves to be dreadful.
She has to make her way through machismo, the ravages of war, poverty and dire children´s games (including stoning of captive girls – when playing as Taliban – and unlawful executions – when playing as American army soldiers). —Wikipedia
