The Report of a Party | Gozaresh-e yek jashn (2011)
Synopsis
"Report of a party" is a film about a society's inflamed matters and focuses on the problems of young people as one of contemporary iranian society's dominant crises.
"Gozaresh-e yek Jashan" ("Report of a Party") is a critical look at the June 2009 elections. "Report of a Party" that first was titled "Lady of Our Town" is Hatamikia's latest film after the "invitation" (2008).
An Iranian blogger wrote on his website: "Although I do not usually update my blog twice a day ...., this time after seeing Hatamikis's audacious film ("Report of a Party"), I wanted to pay my debt to this value-based director.
Finally, after almost a year, broke Ebrahim Hatamikia in tears, but this time he neither cried to God on the Rhine nor reminded us of Haj Kazem's past in a glass agency.
The story-telling Hatamikia began his story with the wedding, a small wedding but full of passion and enthusiasm; full of love and joy. Hatamikia tells us about the joy and enthusiasm among a group of young people that falls apart with the arrival of a police officer or by a court order.
The joy disappeared and with disappearance of joys things started to collapse. The officers became unruly and the film's first lady walked slowly to the sideline and was replaced by a new lady.
Hatamikia clearly tells us that something should have been celebrated and some people should have been celebrating something together, but it was destroyed with an improper judgment, and the party hall moved from a closed area to the streets.
The street means conflict scene, and conflict means the beginning of decay in both the ruling power structure and the protesting mass."
