Unfair Competition - Concorrenza sleale (2001)
Synopsis
A moving story about a disastrous time for Italy, where relations are colored by fascism and prejudice. Unfair Competition takes place in 1938, at the height of fascism.
Umberto is a tailor who has a snazzy business and his Jewish neighbor Leone, begins to amass his fortune through simple and low priced business.
The animosity between the two is soon burst. However, both families are very similar. Children in the household are classmates and best friends, the older brother on one side and the older sister of another, are engaged.
The situation changes when the racial laws state that Jews no longer can teach and children of that religion should not attend public school. Of course, trade regulations are not favorable to the Jews. —Pochoclos.com
