This is the story of a young man, Ilia, who works in a brick kiln. He falls in love with a girl, Limua, who has come with her mother to work as a seasonal worker at the kiln.
Ilia is haunted by mysterious whisperings calling him to other realms, and only the imprint of Limua's hand on the brick, which is finally thrown in a deep well, can bring any peace of mind to him.
Rain for the kiln workers signifies the end of work season, and the ailing Limua has to depart with the others, leaving Ilia lonesome once again.
