An impressionist feature-length documentary film, Googoosh: Iran's Daughter, aims to locate the "silenced" legendary Iranian pop singer/actress in the midst of Iran's social, political, and cultural transformation.
Once Iran’s most famous pop singer, Googoosh was branded a temptress and forbidden to perform or record music as a result of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Iranian-American filmmaker Farhad Zamani tells her story in this documentary and examines how the revolution transformed Iranian culture.
Interviews, historical analysis and performance footage are used to relate the singer’s story and detail Iran’s political, social and cultural changes.
