The film tells the story of the assassination of King Yazdgerd who runs away to Merv and takes refuge there anonymously in a mill.
The miller, his wife and his daughter all expresses a different version of the story. Masterpiece of great Iranian playwright and Director Bahram Beizai.
Death of Yazdgerd is an unusual, poetic drama that traces contemporary themes in a historical setting.
Yazdgerd III was the last of the Sassanid kings of Iran. His death in 651, during the Arab invasions that brought Islam to this Zoroastrian realm, was mysterious. His corpse was discovered in a mill.
