The Four Seasons Chronicle of a tribe's struggle for survival in a climatically harsh part of Iran, meditating on the four seasons of the year, and how they are experienced by people who depend directly on nature for their survival.
Stunning landscape photography and portrayal of colour make up for some gaps in the story.
Cast: Omid Amiri, Jian Amir Rezvani, Adeleh Shakoori, Anis Shakouri
Director's view:
"The Tree of Life is an attempt to present a worthy portrait of the values and features of the ancient and little known Talesh tribe.
Within the context of a love story, the film presents a panorama of birth, growth and death, of beliefs and rites of this splendid race. The misty and mysterious mountains of the region, are symbols of spiritual creation.
These spectacles always arouse in me a sense of wonder. The film is the product of a ten year period of fascination with a specific culture and with the nature which constantly presents magical and bewitching spectacles.
I believe we should not be content with only creating materials for the cultural needs of the contemporary man. We should also be thinking of the generation that will be searching for their lost values. That is why I dedicate The Tree of Life to the future generation."
