A film by Armin Ghassim, Kira Gantner STRG_F. “If you saw peoples’ pain but looked away; if you saw the oppression of the innocent and walked right past; if you did it out of fear or for your own interests, you’re the oppressor’s accomplice, you’re a criminal too” --Toomaj Salehi “Toomaj Salehi’s life is in danger after he bravely chose to stand with his people. He did not leave the side of Iranian women when they were alone. Let’s not leave his side while he is in prison”. Today he is in a prison near Isfahan. This film is about the revolutionary movement in Iran and the regime's violent crackdown on this movement. Many people have been tortured or killed since the protests began. At TC 22:54 to approx. 23:03 min we also show the pictures of an execution. If you don't want to see that, skip the spot.
Toomaj Salehi is one of the voices of the revolutionary movement in Iran. Again and again the rapper has sharply criticized and challenged the regime in his songs. He has been on the streets since September, demonstrating for freedom.
Today he is in a prison near Isfahan. The charge is “War against God”. Toomaj faces execution. A few weeks after his arrest, state television released the recording of his confession. His friends are sure: It must have been forced. Reporter Armin Ghassim meets Toomaj's uncle and his girlfriend Negin in Germany. They talk about resistance and hope. And Armin meets a former Iranian prison guard. He is certain: Toomaj will be tortured day and night. what happens to him And what are the chances for the movement in Iran?
Of course, studies based purely on online surveys have their limitations, unfortunately independent surveys are in-country however not possible.
We would also like to recommend the reporting of our colleagues from NDR, WDR and Süddeutsche Zeitung. Former Iranian prisoners report here how brutal the Iranian regime is against detained demonstrators: https://www.tagesschau.de/investigati...
