Ziaeddin Dorri (July 20, 1953 - August 17, 2018)
Seyyed Ziauddin Dorri (born on July 20, 1953 in Tehran - died on August 17, 2018 in Shiraz) was an Iranian director, producer and writer.
Dorri is known for Cinema Is Cinema (1998), Saeghe (Thunderbolt, 1985) and Wind and Anemone (1997).
He was originally from the city of Saveh, after his death a street in Saveh was named after him and a bust of him is placed in his birthplace.
Born in Nawab neighborhood, Tehran, his father was originally from Saveh city. After completing his studies in the field of communication sciences, he became interested in cinema.
He started his artistic career with television and joined the group of cinema directors by directing "Thunderbolt" (Saeghe) in 1985.
Apart from his released works, in the mid-eighties, he made two films "Forbidden Love" and "Me and Deborah" in Lebanon, but these two films were not released to the general public.
The English Bag series made by Seyyed Ziauddin Dorri is considered as one of the best and most prominent series of contemporary Iranian cinema.
Dorri was transferred to Sadra Hospital in Shiraz for a liver transplant in August 2017 due to liver complications and successfully underwent a liver transplant, but he died on Friday, August 17, 2018 due to infectious complications after liver transplant surgery.
His death happened on the same day as the very popular iranian actor Ezzatollah Entezami.
