Manouchehr Farid Arani known as Manouchehr Farid is a veteran Iranian actor living in Australia.
Manouchehr Farid(zadeh) was born on 27 february 1938 in Tehran. He started his theatrical activities in the early 1950s and he belongs to the same generation of Iranian artists as Parviz Fannizadeh, Jamshid Mashayekhi, Parviz Sayyad, Mohammad Ali Keshavarz, Ali Nasirian and Davoud Rashidi.
After various theatrical experiences, from stage performances to live television shows, especially numerous collaborations with Hamid Samandarian, Farid entered the world of cinema in the early 60s, like a number of his contemporaries.
"Brick and Mirror" by Ebrahim Golestan is Manouchehr Farid's first cinematic experience, and he acted in 15 movies over 14 years before leaving Iran permanently in 1979.
In 1978, Manouchehr Farid was rehearsing in the play Robot ("Rossumovi Univerzální Roboti") by "Karel Chapek" directed by Hamid Samandarian, which was closed due to the Islamic Revolution. "Robot" was Farid's last TV show.
Due to belonging to the Baha'i faith, Manouchehr Farid was practically banned from working after the Islamic Revolution and had no source of income, so he left Iran for the United States in 1979 and after 5 years he moved to Australia forever. According to him, when he left Iran, he vowed to give up artistic work, and he has been faithful to his promise to this day.
