Jamileh Sheikhi (May 19, 1930 - May 23, 2001)
Jamileh Sheikhi was born in Zanjan. Her parents encouraged her to participate in school plays.
In 1957, she began acting under the supervision of veteran actors and was employed by the Theater Office.
With the help of Ezzatollah Entezami, Mohammad Ali Keshavarz, Jafar Vali and Hamid Samandarian she helped establish a new form of theater at the Dramatic Arts Office, saving theater arts from going down the road of decadence.
She then appeared in a number of one-act plays for the small screen and a while later received an honorary doctorate in theater.
In 1975, she was invited by Nosrat Karimi to act in the movie “Devastation” and made her cinematic debut.
In the 1980s, she appeared in the films “The Little Bird of Happiness” and “Pa’eezan” and simultaneously took on more teleplays.
She appeared in the dramas “Patriarch” and “Rebirth”.
Her most memorable role was in the film “Travellers” which won her a Fajr International Film Festival Crystal Symorgh.
Five years later, she won another Crystal Symorgh for “Leila”. Her last film was “Unruled Paper”.
She passed away in 2002 following a heart attack.
