Abdollah Ghiabi (1947, Khorramabad, Iran)
Abdollah Ghiabi (born 1947 in Khorramabad) is an Iranian screenwriter and director.
His two most prominent works are the films Red-Haired and Miras.
He began his professional directing career in 1973 with the film Keyfar (Punishment).
In addition to writing and directing, he has also served as an assistant director in the films such as Baluch (1972) and Rashid (1972), as well as acting in Baluch and singing in Miras (1976).
Ghiabi is considered the first professional director from Lorestan, and in his works such as Miras, he depicts many aspects of the native culture of Lorestan.
He began his film career as an assistant director. He was an assistant to Masoud Kimiai in Qaysar, Reza Motori and Dash Akol and was also Dariush Mehrjui's assistant in one of his films.
His first film, Keyfar, was not of good quality despite his efforts to distinguish himself from the directors of the so called Film-farsi.
His next film, Three People on the Line, was not allowed to be shown for several years, and his third film, Red-Haired, was shown before that.
Ghiabi has a pleasant voice and a number of local songs were recorded with his voice before the revolution, which were not widely broadcast. He is also remembered for his different and beautiful performance of the song "Shabaneh", which had previously been performed by Farhad.
