Festival Director Gunnar Johan Løvvik said: “Liv & Ingmar is a very important film to us. The relationship between Liv Ullmann and Ingmar Bergman is something everyone knows about, but not like the story is told in this film, so intimate and by Liv herself.”
“Working with Liv is a dream come true,” added director Dheeraj Akolkar. “I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart for allowing me and my crew to make one of the most delicate stories of her life on screen. Liv & Ingmar could not have been made without her."
The 40th Norwegian Film Festival runs August 17-23.
Liv & Ingmar
Liv Ullmann and Ingmar Bergman met in 1965. They lived together for five years, had a child and made twelve films together. Now, 46 years later, Ingmar has gone. But their love never died. In the film we meet Liv Ullmann during some hectic days with the film crew in Bergman's famous house at Fårø in Sweden. In the interviews she talks about all sides of living and working with Bergman. And what she tells us from their life together is woven together with clips from their movies together, showing how their private relationship influenced the scripts Bergman wrote and the films they made together.
