Dariush Farhang was born in Abadan, Iran in 1947, graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts Theatre from Tehran University.

In 1968, he established the theatre group "Piadeh" and he had played an important role in a large number of theatre plays, Iranian and foreign, as designer, actor and director

He began his cinematic activity in 1980 with acting in Salandar, a short film directed by Varuzh Karim Masihi.

After the Revolution, he started film activities with a film entitled Rasul, Son of Abolqasem.

In subsequent years he was active alternately as director and actor.
