Rajaian ()
Hossein Rajaian was an Iranian director and writer.
At the age of sixteen, he became interested in cinema because of the support
of Mahmoud Nozari (his cousin).
After graduating from college in San Jose, California, he received his
doctorate in cinema from the University of California at Los Angeles and made
his only film upon returning to Iran. He died of cancer after some
time.
The
eighth day of the week is his only film. Hossein Rajaian made this
film after returning to Iran in 2007. The screenplay was written by him and
Mehrdad Kashani.
During his stay in California, Los Angeles, he met
actress Farzaneh
Taidi. He invited Farzaneh to Iran to play the leading role
in The
eighth day of the week. She won the Sepaas Award for
'Best Actress' at the Tehran International Film Festival in 1973.
