Parviz Osanlu (1929, Tehran, Iran)
Parviz Osanlu is an Iranian director, producer and writer born 1929 in Tehran.
Before entering the professional cinema, Osanlu was one of the most successful producers of commercial films such as Shahr-e farang (1967), Hasan siah (1972) and The Stumble (Laghzesh 1953).
After getting acquainted with how to make films in his teenage years, he established a small cinema in the basement of his house and started showing movies. Then he made his first hand-made animation film.
He returned to Iran after completing his studies in cinematography and screenwriting at Syracuse University and animation at Oakley University in the United States and working with Walt Disney Studios.
He had a major contribution in the shaping and development of the core of Iranian animation. He was mostly active as film director and cinematographer.
