Abbas Shabaviz (1929 - November 13, 2009)
Abbas Shabaviz was born 1929 in Teheran, Iran.
He was an Iranian producer, director and actor known for movies such as Empathetic Friends (1960), Blonde of our City (1965) and Prostitute (1969).
Shabaviz started his artistic career in 1949 by acting in the theatre and in 1957 he entered the world of cinema as the production manager of the movie "A Man Who Suffers" and continued his activity as production manager, actor and director.
Shabawiz founded "Ariana Film" studio in 1966, and with the foundation of this company, he laid the foundation for the production of different films in Iranian cinema, such as Gheiser and Khodahafez Rafigh, and provided the conditions for young directors to enter Iranian cinema, such as Masoud Kimiai, Abbas Kiarostami and Amir Naderi.
Abbas Shabaviz, who had been suffering from cancer for a long time, died at his home in Tehran on Friday, November 13, 2009 at the age of 80.
