Mohammad Ali Sajjadi (December 6, 1957, Amol, Iran)
Mohammad Ali Sajjadi (born 1957, Amol), is an Iranian film director, screenwriter, editor, producer, production designer and writer.
Mohammad Ali Sajjadi is known for Asiri (Ethereal, 2002), Jenayat (Crime, 2003), Boof-e koor (The Blind Owl, 2022) and Bastoor (2022).
Sajjadi started his artistic career with calligraphy and painting. In the late 70s, he pursued filmmaking in the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults and later continued his activity in Azad cinema.
As a journalist for the Information newspaper in 1980, Sajjadi sat down to talk with people like Bozorg Alavi, which was very well received.
Cinema is in the hands of government and military organs and everything is dictated.
In 1983, he made "Interrogation of a Crime" his first film at the age of 26, which was known as the best Iranian film in the crime genre for many years.
Sajjadi directed Asiri (Ethereal) in 2002 and it brings him fame and popularity. Later, he was also nominated for the best director in the Cairo Film Festival with Jenayat (Crime) and received the best director award from the 7th Khaneh Cinema Festival.
