Hossein Sarshar (12. juni 1934 - 9. april 1995)
Hossein Sarshar (1931 in Tehran, 11 April 1992 in Abadan, Iran) was a Persian-Iranian opera star (bass / baritone) and film actor.
Hossein Sarshar was a famous Iranian opera singer. He completed his studies at the Tehran Academy of Arts and continued postgraduate studies with Alba Anzellotti at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome as well as at Hélène Bouvier in Paris.
Apart from his appearances in Tehran (Rudaki-Halle), he regularly visited the Salzburg Festival from the mid-1970s until the outbreak of the Iranian Revolution. Herbert von Karajan, however, did not lead to a commitment. He was a friend of filmmaker Parvin Ansary. In his last years Sarshar suffered from Alzheimer's disease.
After the revolution, Sarshar joined the Iranian resistance. He was tortured in captivity and later died in a car accident. Later it became known that he was killed in a series of car accidents planned by the Ministry of Communications and Security. (wikipedia)
