Abdol Hossein Gil is a former actor of Iranian cinema and television.
Hossein Gil was born on September 25, 1940 in Maroodasht, Shiraz. He started acting in cinema in 1965 with a short role in "Hell Drivers (1966)" directed by Reza Fazeli.
He was also the director and founder of the movie company "Toloo-e Fajr" during the Iran-Iraq war.
After the 1979
Hossein Gil, who appeared in negative roles in pre-revolutionary movies, joined the ranks of the revolutionaries after the 1979. He was a martial athlete and, with his mastery of martial arts, taught self-defense to the IRGC soldiers. He also participated in the Iran-Iraq war as a volunteer.
Later, in recognition of what they called "unquestionable services to the Islamic Revolution in the field of war", he was given the rank of sergeant.
He did not distance himself from the cinema and acted in several Iranian and played roles different from his past roles in the cinema.
