Maryam and Mani | Maryam O Mani (1978)
Synopsis
Maryam takes care of a large family. The residential house of this family is about to be auctioned due to the delay in paying the bank installments.
Maryam, who is fed up with poverty, steals a huge amount of money from Mani, a company manager, and with this money she solves all the problems of the family.
She gets married; she pays the outstanding installments and debts of the bank and organizes her broken life.
In contrast, Mani's life, whose profession is painting and who has an honest and kind spirit, falls apart. Before being caught, Mani paints an imaginary picture of Maryam, and because he cannot prove his innocence during the interrogations, he goes to prison.
Maryam's mother reproduces the picture that Mani painted of Maryam and pastes it on the walls in the neighborhood to give her a guilty conscience and feeling of shame.
