Evil Does Not Exist | 悪は存在しない | Aku wa sonzai shinai (2023)
Synopsis
Takumi and his daughter Hana live in Mizubiki, a village near Tokyo. Like the previous generations, both lead a modest life in harmony with nature.
One day, the villagers realize that glamping shelters are going to be built near Takumi's house. These are intended to offer city dwellers a comfortable “refuge” in nature.
When two representatives of the glamping company visit the village and present the plans, it causes unrest among the residents.
It turns out that the project will have a negative impact on the local water supply. The company's plans endanger both the ecological balance of the region and the way of life of the local people. The consequences of the construction project soon have a profound effect on Takumi's life.
