Akhtar Karimi Zand with the stage name Diana (born on June 2, 1928 in Tehran - died on May 2014) was an Iranian television and cinema actress.
Akhtar Karimi Zand was born in 1928 in Tehran. She dropped out of primary school. Diana was one of the iranian actresses who played more comedy roles in cinema and TV series before the revolution.
She started her career in 1951 by acting in the play "Fath Sanandaj" in Sepahan Theater of Isfahan. During her 15 years of being on the theater stage, she appeared in shows such as: Poor People, Bernard Alba's House, Botkadeh Somnath, Where Did You Get From, Expedient Father, Jaan Fadaye Vatan, Mast o Marufeh, and One of the Wisest People's Mistakes, in the Skin of a Lion, Hamlet with the season salad.
In 1961, Karimi Zand started singing and announcing on the radio. It was at this time that she chose "Diana" as her stage name.
In 1959, she started her career in cinema by acting in "The Hill of Love" by Samuel Khachikian. A few months later, at the invitation of Iran's national television, she acted in the series "Khaneh Qamar Khanum" and in the following years, she played roles in the TV series like Alakhoon-Walakhoon, Kanoon Garme Khanevadeh, Italy, Italy, Binawayan, and Wedding 77.
Diana also appeared in Nosrat Karimi's Mahallel and Ali Hatami's Suitor (Khastegar). It should be noted that most of the films in which she had an Isfahani accent were dubbed by Mrs. Simin Sarkoob.
She died on May 2014 at the age of 87.
