The Tear of the Cold | Ashk-e sarma (2004)
Synopsis The Tear of the Cold is a romantic drama set in the early 1980s against the stunning backdrop of the Iranian north. It tells the story of Private Kiyani, a brilliant, sensitive soldier skilled in detecting mines and defusing them, and Ronak, a feisty Kurdish shepherd girl who grazes her sheep in the war zone. Deep inside, she is full of hatred for the army, and she plays her part in the guerrilla resistance. In the chilly border area of Kurdistan where the soldier keeps finding mines, the girl helps the guerrillas to lay them.
By a strange twist of fate, the lives of these two bitter enemies are intertwined in the biting frost. A heartrending, beautifully shot tale of love and betrayal, devotion and the struggle of war, Tear of the Cold is a plea for tolerance and humanism and won the Audience Prize in Chicago, 2004.Cast: Parsa Pirouzfar , Golshifteh Farahani , Mehrshad Karkhani, Nooreddin Goodarzi, Ali RooyintanAshke Sarma Cinematography: Mohammad Davodi, Ali LoqmaniEditing: Hayedeh SafiyariProduction: Afagh Film Cinematic Institute and Cima Film Centre 'Tear of the Cold' an awkward film By JIM SLOTEK -- Toronto Sun
