Now his photo has been published. I am staring at his face. The past will not leave me..
In prison, I was not curious about other people's accusations. My understanding of people was based on how they behaved. I had seen him several times in the carpentry department of ward 4 (in the notorious Evin prison). He always had a smile on his face. And I told myself that he probably didn't have a heavy punishment waiting for him!
Two days ago, news came that he had been transferred to Ghezelhesar prison (in Karaj outside Tehran), and today one of my former cellmates wrote to me:
"They executed Pedram Madani, by God, it was a state murder. How much hope this kid had for release.
Every time his interrogators came, he would talk, saying, "They told me, 'Don't worry, we know you've been unjustly accused, we'll take care of it ourselves.'
His death sentence was overturned three times in the Supreme Court. When it's overturned three times, it means at least he shouldn't be executed.
How much hope this boy had for freedom and a return to life😭 I'm speechless. They (his family) were deceived so much that his mother refused to even publish a photo of him, hoping that they (his interrogators) would not be one bit stubborn with him.
This system still has a thirst for blood, and its victims are the most oppressed, the most silent, and the most faceless people."
Now his photo has been published. I am staring at his face. The past will not leave me.
Call to halt Pedram Madani's execution ; 27 May 2025 Olivier Grondeau was arrested on October 12, 2022, in Shiraz, Iran, while visiting the country during a world tour. The arrest occurred in the midst of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests gripping the country.
Pedram Madani is being held in Tehran. Three times, his death sentence was overturned by the Supreme Court. Yet, he is scheduled to be executed tomorrow.
We share this video with his family's consent. We demand the immediate cancellation of his execution.
Legal use of murder should not exist. As long as executions go on, every day in Iran will be a day of mourning.

The mother of Iranian prisoner Pedram Madani, who was facing execution, was appealing for help to save her son’s life.
Pedram Madani, an Iranian prisoner accused of spying for Israel, is scheduled to be executed on May 28, 2025.
Despite the Supreme Court overturning his death sentence 3 times, lower courts reissued it.
His case is marred by legal flaws, including denial of a chosen lawyer & forced confessions under torture.
The Iranian judiciary appears determined to carry out the execution.
There is a call for international action against this injustice & the broader pattern of executions in Iran.
