European countries reveal their titles submitted for the Best International Feature Film Award at the 2026 Academy Awards
With the 98th Academy Awards ceremony scheduled to take place in Hollywood on 15 March 2026, European countries are starting to reveal their titles submitted for the Best International Feature Film Award.
For this edition, submitted films must have been released in their respective countries between the dates of 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025, and the deadline for submissions is 1 October.
Fifteen finalists will be selected from the total number of submissions and announced on 16 December, before the Academy whittles that number down to five, which it will announce as the final nominees on 22 January 2026, alongside the nominees for the rest of the categories.
Last year, a total of 85 submissions were accepted, and 36 came from a European country. Brazil's submission, Walter Salles's Brazilian-French title I'm Still Here, ended up winning the coveted trophy.
