A scar and a tattoo seal the fate of a young Iranian woman. During a routine examination to renew her driving licence, the officials suddenly become convinced that they have uncovered a problematic psychological condition.
The young Iranian woman had not been expecting this kind of examination. She only wanted to renew her driver’s license, but when the officials noticed a scar on her wrist and her tattoo, they began looking at her with suspicion.
Suddenly she is trapped, forced to answer personal questions and exposed to insinuations.
Tattoo is thus a very strong, highly emotional dramatic short film. Its acting is phenomenal, especially from the lead actress, the cinematography is quite inspired and the intensity is felt throughout its runtime. It’s the kind of film that can leave you in a very bad state, but necessarily so as these types of situations happen, and they need to be seen to be believed. --Dumbo Film Festival 2019
