Amir Hamzeh va goor-e delgir (1977) | Animation | Short
Synopsis
The story between a lover and mistress based on a fable story (Amir Hamza the Lover and the Dancing Zebra) that shows his attempt to defeat the demon and marry with the girl.
Some explanation of the Persian writings in this animation for those who are not familiar with Persian language; at one part of this beautiful animation, two pigeons are talking about the hero of the story who is resting under the tree which they are sitting on one of it´s branches...One of them says " Who is this young man sleeping under this tree?" The other one answers " He is Amir Hamzeh The Brave Heart and he is in love with the Zebra princess The Taker Of Hearts.
The princess is the daughter of the king of Media, who is cursed by the Dotted Demon to be for always in the shape of a zebra. In order for the curse to be broken, the princess must marry the one who really loves her."
The hero of the story hears the helpful conversation of these two pigeons and offers one a small grain. One pigeon says "God blessing" and thanks the hero in return.
At the end of the story, after the hero marries the princess and the curse is broken, The Dotted Demon goes to the king and asks for his forgiveness for putting a curse on his daughter but the king says "NO" The Dotted Demon then goes to the hero and asks him to intercede on his behalf before the king but the hero says "NO" too. The Dotted Demon then goes to the princess herself and takes off his own head and throws it in front of her feet. She is so moved by the demon´s pleads that she begins to cry.
The Dotted Demon washes himself by her tears and all the sins in the form of blemishs on his body washes away. In the end, The king is writing on the blackboard " Greatness lies in being truthful." The demon is copying this text over and over again. It has to be noted that (being truthful) was the basis of the civilization and people of the ancient Persia before the coming of Islam to that land. (Sean)
