Bahman Ghobadi (February 1, 1969, Baneh, Kurdistan, Iran)
He was born in February 1st, 1968 in Baneh, Kurdistan, Iran. The first son and the forth child of his family. He has got his B.A in Movie Directing from Broadcasting College.
He's lived in Baneh up to 12. Due to civil wars, Emigrated to Sanandaj (Center of Kurdistan Province in Iran), along with his family.
He has got his diploma in Sanandaj & for studying in college came to Tehran in 1992.
B. Ghobadi started his artistic work in field of industrial photography from 1998. His expriences helped him in his specific vision to the world around him.
He started filmmaking with 8mm films. He made some short & documentary films.
“The camera became a weapon in my hands to express my opinions. As I grew more mature and my vision expanded, I thought I could raise questions and show the problems and hardships of the Kurds.”
His short films, since the mid of 1990's, recieved many foreign & domestic awards. "Life in Fog" opened a new path in his career.
This film recieved many different international awards & became "The most famous documentary in the history of the Iranian's cinema".
Making the feature A Time For Drunken Horses (1999), he joined the professional filmmakers. This is the first kurdish feature in the history of the Iranian's Cinema and B. Ghobadi is the first kurdish director in the history of the Iranian's Cinema.
