Firouzeh Khosrovani (1971, Tehran, Iran)
Born in Tehran (Iran), Firouzeh Khosrovani settled in Italy to complete her art studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Brera.
She made her filmmaking debut with Life Train (2004), a documentary about the Iran-Iraq War.
In 2007 she realised Rough Cut, a documentary about mutilated mannequins, where disturbing reproductions of the plastic female figure become a metaphor for the veiled Iranian woman.
Fest of Duty is one of Firouzeh’s latest delicately nuanced documentary work which was screened at IDFA as well as many other similarly prestigious international film festivals.
In 2020, Khosravani's documentary Radiography of a Family wins the awards for the best feature documentary film and the best creative use of archives at IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam).
Khosravani was arrested on July 30, 2009, during the commemoration of the victims of the June 20 protests (against the results of the 2009 presidential election in Iran), along with a number of other filmmakers, in Tehran's Behesht Zahra cemetery and was released after a few hours.
