Ferdous Kaviani (September 25, 1941, Kerman, Iran)
Ferdous Kaviani was born on September 25, 1941 in Kerman, Iran. He was a follower of Zoroastrianism, one of the world's oldest monotheistic religions.
He was interested in acting since he was a child. After finishing elementary school, he went to Tehran and worked in a fabric store for several years.
He started his career as an actor in 1972 with The City of Tales (Shahr-e ghesseh).
His notable roles were in films such as In The Eye of the Hurricane / Dar masir-e tondbad (1989), Killing Mad Dogs (2001) and Jayi Baraye Zendegi (2003) and and “Hamsaran” tv series. Narenji Poush was his most recent film made in 2012.
After receiving his diploma, he participated in a scholarship and went to Germany to study chemistry in Berlin, but left it unfinished and returned to Iran in 1961. Back in Tehran, Kaviani began to study acting and directing at Tehran University's Faculty of Fine Arts and graduated in 1971. He has married Mahin Kaviani with whom he has two children.
During his career as an actor, Ferdous Kaviani appeared in plays such as Masquerade of Thieves, Sultan Mar, Sohrab and Horse and Dragonfly, Ahesteh Ba Gole Sorkh, Accidental Death of an Anarchist (director) and Shahr-e Ghesseh, and one of his last performances on stage was in Hot Egg Tango directed by Hadi Marzban in 2013.
