Parviz Davayi _{(December 19, 1935, Tehran, Iran)}

Parviz Davayi (or Davaii) (born on December 19, 1935 in Tehran) is an Iranian film critic, writer and translator.

He has been living in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, since the fifties.

Parviz Davayi is known for writing A Wedding Suit (1976), Hengameh (1968), Pesar-e sharghi (1975) and Malek Khorshid (1975).

Davayi is a graduate of Tehran University's Faculty of Literature majoring in English, and his mastery of the language made him a translator of various film articles and dialogues for dubbing movies.

He worked with various film magazines for many years and gained fame as a film critic. Among the magazines he collaborated with, there are Sepid and Siah, Ferdowsi, Rudaki, Roshanfekr and Cinema and Negin.

He has sometimes written essays or articles for the film magazine. He wrote his last article in Iran in 1974 in Sepid and Siah magazine with the title "Goodbye Friends" and went to Czechoslovakia for a training course and settled in Prague.

Davayi is one of the founders of the Center for Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents, along with Parviz Kalantari, Abbas Kiarostami, Akbar Sadeghi, Noureddin Zarinkelk, Sirus Tahbaz and Khosrow Sinai, and for a while he was the secretary of the Children and Adolescent Film Festival in 1970 and 1973.

Masoud Mehrabi believes that the past generation knows Davayi with his film reviews and the current generation with his stories. In 2010, Parviz Davayi was honored at the third Iranian Cinema Book of the Year award ceremony.

His books have a nostalgic tone and are rooted in childhood memories and also related to cinema. Parviz Davayi currently resides in Prague and in addition to translated works, he has authored a collection of stories and other books about cinema.
