Esfandiar Ahmadieh (1929–2012)
Ahmadieh was an Iranian director and writer, born 1929 in Teheran, Iran.
He is regarded as the "father of the Iranian animation". Esfandiar Ahmadieh made the first Iranian animation film Molla Nasreddin in 1957.
His most significant works include the films Molla Nasreddin, Satellite, Jealous Duck, Wheat Crop, Sekke-ye shans, Morgh-e tokhm-tala, and Where Are You Going Kite?
He drew many of his animations with pencil.
His 90-minute film Rostam and Esfandiar (no relation to filmmaker) tells the story of the legendary hero Esfandiar, originally told in Ferdowsi's epic Shahnameh.
Ahmadieh died on 7 February 2012 in Teheran.
